Baked Beans

Ingredients

4 cups (1 litre)(approx. 1 900g bag) navy beans (dry)
1 ½ pounds (675 g) salted pork
2 onions
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 cups (500 mL) brown sugar
1 cup (250mL) Molasses
1 tablespoon salt
½ tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon savory

Directions


Note:
  1. A ham bone with plenty of meat left on it makes an excellent alternative

  2. You may also cook beans in a slow cooker. Add about 50% more time if done this way. Cook until meat falls off ham bone. Remove hambone(s)

  3. I used 1 cup of brown sugar and the result was plenty sweet enough for me
